Cherie Ann Turpin - is an Assistant
Professor of English at the University of the District
of Columbia, specializing
in American Literature and Africana Women's Literature. She
is also apart
of the Faculty Senate, University Self-Study Committee and a member of
the Irish
Arts Center in NYC.

Lorraine
Branham-Williams - was recently named
Director of the School of Journalism
at The University of Texas at Austin. She
is the first woman and first African American
to hold the position. She will
begin on August 21, 2002. She had been the assistant to
the publisher of the
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in Pittsburgh, PA

article for American Baptist

observance of the 200th Anniversary
